Xiaohui Xie is a full professor in the Department of Computer Science at UC Irvine, where he has been since 2007. He received his PhD from MIT, and completed his postdoctoral training at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University.
He is passionate about AI/machine learning, neural networks, deep learning, and AI4Science. He lives in Irvine, California.

Development of advanced algorithms for neural network training, efficient model distillation, and fine-tuning strategies to improve adaptability and scalability of AI systems.

Methodologies for image registration and segmentation, human pose estimation, 3D vision, and generative modeling for image and video analysis and synthesis.

Application of deep learning to computational genomics and biomedical challenges, including modeling of noncoding DNA/RNA sequences, gene expression regulation, RNA secondary structure, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and protein language models for molecular and structural biology.
